ALLAH's ADDRESS TO MUSLIMS (PART 7)
ALLAH's ADDRESS TO MUSLIMS (PART 7) -
In the name of Allah and may Allah's blessing be upon the last and final prophet, Mohammadﷺ
O you who believe, do not nullify your acts of charity by boasting about (doing people a) favour and by causing (them) hurt, like the one who spends his wealth to show off before people and does not believe in Allah and in the Last Day. So, his example is like a rock on which there is dust, then a heavy rain came over it and left it barren. They have no ability to gain anything out of what they have done, and Allah does not give guidance to the people who disbelieve
The example of those who spend their wealth to seek the pleasure of Allah and to make firm (their faith) from (the depths of) their souls is like a garden on a foothill on which came a heavy rain, and it yielded its produce two fold. Even if a heavy rain does not come to it, a light drizzle is enough, and Allah is watchful of what you do.
Quran 2:264 & 265
Points to be noted
1. Rasool Allah ﷺ once mentioned that the reward of every deed depends on the intention. So if someone gives charity for the sake of Allah will have his reward in the hereafter and of someone gives charity for fame or showoff will not have any share in the hereafter. Likewise, Quran confirms this in the above ayat.
2. Example of those who showoff for the fame in this world is like a barren land or a rock on which there is no produce and even the rain doesnt have any positive effect on such ground rather it washes away any dust on it and leaving it barren with no produce. Whereas the example of those who spend in the way of Allah get multiple times of reward similar to a land which is capable of producing.
3. In another hadith Rasool Allah ﷺ said that anyone who prays to showoff has committed shirk, anyone who fasts to showoff has committed shirk and anyone who gives charity has committed shirk. And we know that shirk is the worst deed which Allah will never forgives. Anyone who commits a sin and never repents will have no share in the hereafter.
May Allah guide us all and forgive us.
