Is the punishment of Allah on muslim's?

Why are muslims fighting among themselves?

Quran 6-65
"Say, "God has the power to send torment on you from above or below your feet, or to divide you into different groups quite hostile to one another, and make you suffer from each other's animosity." Consider how plainly We show them a variety of evidence (of the Truth) so that they may have understanding"

When Allah decides to punish a sect of people or a nation,  then he punishes them in this world or in hereafter or both. The punishment of this world can be in different forms like, an earth quake which wiped out the entire nation of prophet Hood, a flood which came to people of prophet Nuh, a scream which came for people of prophet Saleh, stoning from sky as it happened for people of prophet Lut.

However, the above ayat from Quran states that in-fighting is also a sort of punishment from Allah. A divided ummah or nation which leads to hatred and fighting amongst themselves is also a kind of punishment of Allah.

This ayat should ring a bell in every muslim head, we must think why is all this happening to us? Why are muslim nations fighting among themselves? Why is every muslim group fighting the other, calling them names, putting up fatwa of kufr and shirk on each other? Is this a punishment from Allah? 

Indeed it is a punishment and it's because we have taken Imam's other than the Quran. Quran is supposed to be the imam of this nation, we are supposed to follow it and if we follow it we will never be divided.

May Allah make this ramadan the month in which we read, understand Quran, seek forgiveness from Allah and resolve that we will strive to follow the divine law of Allah.
